Abstract

The objective of the project was to define optimized conditions for post-weld heat treatments. The materials were high-strength steels in the quenched-tempered condition:

- A nickel-chromium-molybdenum grade;
- A nickel-vanadium grade;
- The weld metals needed for joining.

The materials have been tested considering both the service properties (tensile and toughness properties) and the residual stresses relaxation behaviour during both the heating and when maintained at the aimed for temperature. ture.
