Nanotechnology in Europe: Experts' perceptions and scientific relations between sub-areas
This report on a mini-survey of opinions of 23 European nanotechnology experts shows that the picture of what is nanotechnology is still under development. The aim of the study is to explore technological developments, commercial applications, demand and acceptance of nanotechnology, in order to assist policymakers in deciding how to use its full potential and to minimize the associated risks. The study of the innovation potential of nanotechnology is focused on pre-selected bottlenecks in the research process such as interdisciplinary collaboration, linking of academia and industry, involvement of small and medium sized enterprises (SME) and education and training.
