Community Research and Development Information Service - CORDIS

The objectives of the Institute for Advanced Materials within the field of Fusion Technology are:

- To support ITER technological needs for the selection and characterization of materials;
- To improve tritium related knowledge and technology in the area of operational and environmental safety;
- To contribute to the long term technology activities of the European Fusion Programme, through the development and characterization of advanced low activation materials.

The Fusion activities at the Institute for Systems, Informatics and Safety (ISIS), concern:

- Operational safety during maintenance by remote handling;
- Structural integrity under plasma disruptions transients;
- Passive safety behaviour of the reactor in post-accidental conditions;
- Tools and methods for safety analyses and reliability assessment.

The principal contribution of the Coordination of Resources (CR) to the European Fusion Programme is the management of the JRC-Ispra site's tritium facilities. facilities.
