Abstract

This report describes the implementation of advanced hybrid numerical solver for elastodynamics (AHNSE), performed in the framework of the TRISEE joint European project. The project is part of the European Commission's Environment and Climate 1994/1998 programme: 3D site effects and soil-foundation interaction in earthquake and vibration risk evaluation. One of the major goals of TRISEE is to improve the capabilities of numerically simulating ground vibrations and their effects on structures of engineering interest, in the presence of significant site effects. Such vibrations may arise both from natural sources (eg earthquakes) and from human sources (eg road traffic, high-speed train lines, well drilling, etc).
