Abstract

The influence of sediment stratification on flow dynamics is proposed to parameterize in terms of variable von Karman's constant. The latter is derived from a numerical solution of the model equations describing the vertical structure of the sediment-stratified bottom logarithmic layer followed by approximation of the vertical mean velocity profiles with the logarithmic law. The model in use is a modified version of the standard b-l model modified, as applied to a sediment-bearing turbulent flow.
