Abstract

An improved numerical simulation of transient two-phase flow based on advanced modelling strategies and numerical techniques is described. The final aim of this work was directed towards overcoming deficiencies and limitations of existing approaches and to provide a high resolution of large parameter gradients or flow discontinuities as often occur in two-phase flow processes. The paper concentrates on new aspects with regard to physical modelling, numerical methods and verification of the new models based on benchmark test cases and comparison with experimental data.
