Turbulent trapping and scaling laws for transport
Transport of charged particles in turbulent structures can be dominated by trapping phenomena. This work shows that particle trapping plays an important role for the appearance of anomalous and strange diffusion in turbulent fields, mainly by inducing a non-Gaussian statistics of the elementary displacements. Several theoretical models are proposed or reviewed, which take non-Gaussianity, residence times and trapping events into account, and which are able to describe anomalous and strange diffusion without invoking the traditional Corrsin factorization assumption.
