Abstract

A description is given of the developments in accessing georeferenced information stored on database management systems (DBMS) and geographic information systems (GIS) via the World Wide Web. The applications have been specifically adapted to give access to earthquake catalogues sponsored by the European Commission, which represent a class of information of interest to a wide range of experts and more general users. Two gateways have been developed giving access to data stored on DBMS and on GIS, and a common interface to both has been provided.
