Abstract

A brief overview of the European Tracer Experiment (ETEX) experiment is given. A Lagrangian particle dispersion model is then used to calculate the evolution of a tracer puff, released during the first ETEX release. The meteorological input data used is an ensemble forecast. The dispersion model is evaluated by comparing the dispersion using a control forecast as input, with the measurements from ETEX. The puff evolution from a selection of the 32 ensemble forecasts are then compared with the measurements, to show the spread in performance of the dispersion model, depending on the preciseness of the meteorological input.
