Abstract

The variable configuration Tokamak (TCV) is dedicated to the study of the influence of plasma form on Tokamak physics. The aspects particularly linked to the confinement of energy, which is one of the critical parameters for the functioning of a thermonuclear reactor, will be shown. The great variety of forms achieved with the TCV have allowed us to measure their influence on the quality of energy confinement, to understand its mechanisms and to propose a model. On this basis, it has been possible firstly to determine and then to create forms which optimise energy confinement.
