Abstract

A good knowledge of the localisation of the ECRH (electron cyclotron resonance heating) deposition profile is important for the experimental study of heated plasmas as well as for the verification of simulations of ECRH. Effects of ECRH in stationary conditions are difficult to use because transport mechanisms are not well understood. Transient response of electron temperature to ECRH offers an attractive solution. In this work, a sensitivity study showed that a reliable deposition profile can so be deduced, even if transport parameters are not well known. The possibility of optimizing the modulation signal was also presented.
