Abstract

This project was aimed at the development of a shift register in rapid single flux quantum (RSFQ) pulse logic, which can be used to produce quasi-stochastic pulse sequences in the range of high frequencies. This was achieved by fabricating differently designed types of shift registers with complex switch structures. For the first time the pipe line principle was successfully applied to the RSFQ switch technique. The open-circular pipe line structure could be developed into a closed-circular configuration. Pulse circuit switches were developed in order to facilitate testing the reliability of RSFQ components. Using the switches with T-flip-flops and multiplier, an upper limit of less than one faulty circuit per 2E14 circulations was demonstrated.
