Local dose rate measurement of ionising radiation at the level of background environmental radiation
The measurement of low local dose rates demands a lot of the measuring technique. There are no recommendations for this level in guidelines, and so accordingly measurement systems for radiation protection are consulted as a basis. Instruments meant to be used in radiation protection can result in confusing readings when used for measuring at the level of environmental radiation. The talks held at this conference deal with the qualities of the environmental radiation level and the production and calibration of appropriate devices. The readings determined in comparative measurements are discussed and possible ways of solving existing problems are shown. The qualities of environmental radiation dosimeters and their use are described. This is followed by a summary of the final discussion.
