Three-dimensional medical imaging of the visible human data set with the visualization toolkit
Following report describes the technical aspects of the creation of three-dimensional (3D) medical images based on the visible human data set (VHD) with the visualization toolkit (VTK) software. The VTK source code has been compiled on an silicon graphics workstation and whole image data set of the visible male and female have been installed. The VHD is a full set of anatomical images, computer tomography and magnetic resonance of the whole body of a male and a female body. The VHD is being used by an ever increasing number of investigators to develop, test, and compare 3D visualization and image processing methods, and to evaluate the effectiveness of these methods for eventual applications in clinical diagnosis and therapy.
