Abstract

The Oklo-natural analogue Phase II project has two main objectives:

- To test models of processes related to radionuclide migration/retention of importance to the evaluation of the performance of disposal systems against data from a well characterized natural system;
- To improve the understanding and knowledge on the confinement capacity and mechanisms of geological material.

The first annual joint EC/CEA Workshop of the Oklo-natural analogue Phase II project, hosted by ENRESA, took place at Sitges, Spain on 19 to 20 June 1997. The 25 papers presented at the workshop are documented in the present proceedings and they are introduced by an executive summary describing the present status of the research activities of the Oklo-natural analogue project Phase II. II.
