The VOICE project (part 1) giving a voice to the deaf by developing awareness of voice to text recognition capabilities
The paper presents an overview of the VOICE Project. The project proposes the promotion of automatic recognition of speech in conversation, conferences, television broadcasts and telephone calls, with their translation into personal computer (PC) screen messages. It also proposes to stimulate and increase the use of new, widely diffused technologies, namely the Internet, with the objective of uniting, by means of an Internet VOICE forum, associations, companies, universities and anyone else who could benefit from such research.
