The aim of this study is to present the perception of the market for trust enhancing products, as it is seen from both the demand and the production side. A collection of information is done through public web sites, newsgroups, and through colloquia with companies that provide products and services in the security domain. The market of reference differs based on the observer's viewpoint. Thus, an initial effort is made to define the market boundaries, and 3 different approaches are suggested. The demand behaviour is analysed and expense models are presented. For different products an evaluation of the supply composition has been done. Those products that in our opinion will in greater measure influence the emergence of business applications over the Internet have been selected. The choice was also driven by the availability of market figures. Conclusions are presented and strategic tools are suggested for addressing uncertainties faced by decision-makers within the market.
