Abstract

The aim of this research was to develop a transmission system, without the support of any cables for video images or numeric data, for the automation of the drive of extracting machinery. The study of the feasibility of the transmission in a tunnel, and the modelling of the propagation of radio waves in a closed space, have led us to define the broadcasting wavelength, which is 2.5 GHz (hyper wave length).

The system used for this research, called Telsafe Video is based on transmission without cables, by hyper wavelengths, in order to broadcast simultaneously video images and numeric data issued from a mobile mining machine. A fixed control point will then be able to receive this data in order to complete a total monitoring of the machine.

The Telsafe Video system is a tool that opens possibilities for communication without cables, using large wavelengths, and that will allow, from now on, checking and control of a mining machine from a distance. Therefore, it is now possible to remove the operator from the dangerous areas close to the machine. ne.
