Abstract

The paper presents a prototype of a clinical information system for the archiving and management of multimedia and temporally-oriented clinical data related to percutaneous transluminal coronary (PTCA) patients. The system is based on an object-oriented database management system (DBMS) and supports multiple views and schema views on patient's data. After a detailed analysis of the considered clinical environment, carried out using an object-oriented approach previously developed in the field of business process modeling; some suitable view schemas for different user roles have been modeled and implemented. Remote data access for authorized users working outside the considered clinical institution is supported too.
