Abstract

The first part of the study carried out in this field consisted of researching the charging methods that were best adapted to a regular filling of the cells. The second part was carried out on an experimental scale on a cold caisson, 4 metres high and containing 3 m(3) of coal, in order to study the distribution of density, and the segregation of granules per square metre, in the charging of the ovens.

A series of trials, on an industrial scale, has been carried out in order to quantify the influence of the heterogeneity of the cooking, from one oven to the other, on the quality of the coke produced, using the IRSID index and the granulometric method. In the last part of the study, we looked at the measurement of the temperature of the distillation gas in the rising column in order to define a homogeneity index for firing within the oven. .
