Transverse strain response of Hi-Nicalon fibre reinforced silicon nitride matrix composites
The transverse response of a series of Hi-Nicalon fibre reinforced Si(3)N(4) matrix composites is investigated in this paper. Theoretical and experimental transverse strain evolution are compared and discussed. The interfacial properties are determined from axial hysteresis loop modelling and compared to the ones calculated from the theoretical curve (axial stress - transverse strain) of the composites. Excellent agreement is obtained.
