Abstract

Emission Spectrometry is the basic tool for the determination of steel composition during the production process. CRM and IRSID have studied and developed specific analytical methods to respond to the ever more stringent quality requirements for steel products. These methodologies have been applied to different steel samples. Samples, whose alumina content has been determined in the field of Round Robin Test, have been investigated. The screening of industrial steel samples, taken in liquid phase, has demonstrated the possibility of monitoring the cleanness during the steel making progress. On final products, the cleanness control allows detection of modification in the process.
