Meteoclimatic monitoring and air pollution in urban areas
The aim of this paper is to highlight the relationship between environmental monitoring and air pollution in urban areas, by linking very frequent and detailed data for climatic conditions to modelling of air pollution phenomena in an urban environment. The detailed study on wind data series measured from a climatic land station network located inside the urban area of Palermo illuminates wind vector behaviour in restricted urban areas. From the study, it is possible to gain a first understanding of how to apply urban wind data, measured from a monitoring system, to the air pollution transport model made by JRC.
