Since the beginning of the nuclear industry, a lot of research reactors were used as irradiation facilities for technological goals. Currently, there are about 290 research reactors in operation in the world. Many of them are more than 30 years old and will need to be replaced in the near future. The aim of this paper is to present a study for a research facility providing neutrons from a spallation source.
