Abstract

The overall aim of this research project was to evaluate the performance of radio frequency glow discharge optical emission spectrometry (rf GDOES) for analysing non-conductive coated steels. This research has shown that rf GDOES is a valuable diagnostic tool for the analysis and quality control of non-conductive and conductive coated flat steel products. This is especially true for those samples which have uniform coating without porosities and irregularities throughout the whole coating thickness. Preliminary studies on a massive glass sample were used to define the experimental conditions in the case of even very high impedance samples.
