Community Research and Development Information Service - CORDIS

The research networks of the Human Capital and Mobility Programme (HCM) were launched in 1992 as a vehicle for encouraging research teams in different countries to collaborate on joint activities and to promote the mobility and the training-through-research of young scientists within this collaboration. In managing the Programme, the Commission has taken the initiative to bring together groups of networks gathered around a common theme in order to exchange experiences and discuss results or adopted strategies. In the multi-media information society, image processing has a great impact on nearly all scientific disciplines. The concept of information itself has evolved from verbal to visual and the most effective information carrier is now the image. This cluster publication presents the work undertaken by several HCM networks.
