The NESC 1 cylinder, a challenge for NDE inspection
In this paper an overview is given of the status of the activities of the task group involved in the inspection (TG1) of the NESC 1 cylinder. In the NESC study of the pressurized thermal shock (PTS) situation, a range of defect sizes has been considered generally crack-like and oriented perpendicularly to the surface. They range from small near surface defects to larger planar cracks.
