Community Research and Development Information Service - CORDIS

JOULE-THERMIE was launched in 1995 to support the wider utilization of non-nuclear energies technologies from research and development, through demonstration, towards the goal of the penetration of these systems into the market places of the European Union (EU) and world-wide. THERMIE is focused on the cost-effective, environmentally-friendly and targeted demonstration and promotion of clean and efficient energy technologies. These consist of renewable energy technologies, rational use of energy in industry, buildings and transport, a clean, more efficient use of fossil fuels and better exploration, distribution and transport of hydrocarbons. This Activity Report (1997) introduces some of THERMIE's success stories, highlights how the activities help to provide better services to industry and society and looks to the future beyond the current programme.
