The objective of the study is to identify the necessary logistical requirements in order to improve efficiency and quality of maritime transport and to fully integrate maritime transport into the intermodal chain. The final report consists of three parts. The first part is the executive summary and includes an overview of all relevant issues as well as a number of policy recommendations. The second part contains the conceptual perspectives of the changes in modern logistics and the potential contribution of the European maritime sector. The third part discusses the empirical perspectives of logistical changes.
