Transport strategic modellingFunded under: FP2-EURET
In relation to this report strategic models are transport planning models which can be used for the evaluation of new policy regulations from the national government or the European Union (EU). Together with this it should be possible to evaluate the effect of a sets of major investments in the infrastructure. The first objective is to provide an overview of the strategic transport planning models available in the European Economic Area (EEA). The second objective of the study was to identify and formulate research and development possibilities which could be supported by the EU in the 4th Framework Programme. The third objective is the formulation of requirements for strategic models in a European perspective. The modes of transport taken into consideration are for passengers models: road, rail (conventional and high speed), bus (only long distance) and air (only European flights). For freight models these modes are: road, rail, inland waterway and combined and intermodal transport.
