Effective bonding between enamels and large steel surfaces poses various challenges to the steel manufacturer, due to the extreme variations of temperature used in production. Research focused on improving the chemical composition of Interstitial Free (IF) steel, to produce optimum formability, defect resistance, and ensure bonding. If its chemical composition can be sufficiently improved, IF steel may represent a means of improving production and quality and reducing costs in the steel industry.
