New radio system to improve underground transmissionsFunded under: ECSC-COALRES 3C
This project has developed a sophisticated radio system which can be used in underground operations. The system components are controlled by a microcomputer which can repeatedly adapt software to obtain optimum transmission frequencies. The system needs some modification to filter out interferences from external sources such as high speed trains moving overhead. This will involve changes to the programming of the software which can only be achieved by adaptation to the system underground. A rapid response is needed within the system so data transmission rates can be intensified. Official approvals have been given for interruption-free power supply, line amplifer and voice communication posts. Other applications for approval of various components have been also filed.
