This project aims to perform pre-feasibility studies on a set of renewable energy plants identified as possible projects for the development of renewable energy technologies in the southern Mediterranean countries. The INTERSUDMED project is composed of 13 renewable energy projects, based on a range of energy technologies. These include photovoltaic projects in Algeria, Egypt, Morocco, Tunisia and Palestine; wind farms in Tunisia and Turkey; solar thermal technology in Egypt; a desalination plant powered by photovoltaics, and two biomass projects in Morocco. This report presents the main socio-economic characteristics of the different sites the INTERSUDMED project has considered for the deployment of a renewable energy plant.
