Importance of the socio-economic impacts of renewable energies for the southern mediterranean countries: weighting the impactsFunded under: FP4-TSER
As part of the socio-economic impact analysis task devoted to the INTERSUDMED project, a framework has been produced that evaluates the impact of the renewable energies in the southern Mediterranean countries. This involved an analysis of current global renewable energy projects in each particular socio-economic environment. A report was then produced, characterizing the socio-economic environment of the selected INTERSUDMED sites. Once the impacts of the different renewable energy technologies had been identified, it was necessary to integrate the results. A questionnaire was completed by decision-makers in southern Mediterranean countries, evaluating the most important impacts of the construction of an energy plant. From this research the most suitable renewable energy plants were discovered.
