Community Research and Development Information Service - CORDIS

Abstract

The IPTS is responsible for the observation of technological developments and analysis of their impact, transferring this information to the decision-makers of Europe. Specifically this involves ongoing technology watch, and research on the inter-relationship between technology, competitiveness and employment. Research is carried out on three levels. The first level involves monitoring and assessing science and technology developments; the second level understanding their projected repercussions for the socio-economic context; and the third level focuses on those repercussions that are policy-relevant. Results are disseminated to European policy-makers through reports, workshops and briefings, and a monthly journal. The IPTS has developed a strong network between European policy-makers and the science and technology community.
