The socio-economic impact of renewable energy projects in Southern Mediterranean countriesFunded under: FP4-TSER
This report summarises the work carried out within the INTERSUDMED project to analyse the socio-economic impact of renewable energy projects in Southern Mediterranean countries. An analysis of the different methodologies available for performing the socio-economic analysis, a description of the socio-economic characteristics of the sites selected by the INTERSUDMED projects and an evaluation of economic impacts using the input-output methodology and the cost-benefit methodology have been performed. The socio-economic impact that existing renewable energy projects have at local, regional and national level, and the importance of the different socio-economic impacts for decision makers are also evaluated. In addition, a socio-economic analysis of the impact of rural electrification projects has been carried out in three countries.
