Abstract

Vitis roots are particularly rich in phenolic compounds. By extraction and isolation of the class of resveratrol deriatives on a styrene-divinilibenzene resin (Mattivi et al., 1996), it was observed that they are almost exclusively localized in the brown and suberized cortex, while they are present only in quite minor amounts in the white internal parts, the vascular cylinder.
