Abstract

IRMM is strongly involved in the preparation and certification of reference materials, in the performance of reference measurements and in the development, adaptation and fostering of methods required for this purpose. Adequate Quality Assurance for this kind of work is crucial and self-evident, and therefore is being performed and improved ever since the start of the respective works.
During recent years the terms Quality Assurance, Quality Control, Quality Assessment and related ones have changed their use slightly from the purely scientific sense to a more formalistic meaning and is now also related to terms as documentation, certification or accreditation.
In this sense, discussions are going on the establishment of a Quality Management System, what it should look like, according to which standard(s) it should be set up etc. This paper gives an overview on the ongoing efforts in this respect within the Actinide Analysis Group of the Analytical Chemistry Unit of IRMM. .
