Quantative assessment of fire occurrence in the expresso study area during the 1996 dry season experiment: active fires, burnt area and atmospheric emissions
The experiment for regional sources and sinks of oxidants (EXPRESSO) was set up in central Africa, in order to improve quantitative knowledge of tropical biochemistry process. This paper presents the results obtained from the early dry season experiment of 1996/1997, in the presence of significant fire activity. Satellite-based estimation of areas burnt and atmospheric emissions produced during this experiment are presented.
