The Ispra Establ. Of the Eurp Commiss. JRC was set up in the late fifties. In 1992 a project, called EcoCentre-Ispra, was set in motion with the financial support from the Europ. Parliament, aiming to demonstrate the feasibility of improving the environmental impact of an ageing research area according to the criteria of sustainability. The importance of clear rules and guarantees for correct energy retrofit in building was straightforward, thus acceptance procedures have been defined for this scope. In this paper the procedures adopted for the acceptance of two major retrofits are described.
