Abstract

Maintenance-free development roadways are a prerequisite for problem free operation of a coal-mine that uses modern transport technology. Tests and experience show that closed and early-bearing support which combines high load-bearing capacity and adequate yielding properties are sufficient for roadways in conditions of strata under high stress, at great depth, and with changing, mining-induced additional rock pressure; however, this is too expensive. It was proven that both support systems with yielding rates and with limited yielding rates also performed under extreme conditions; yielding mortars can also be made. The first application of this research is in the forecasting of major deformation in fully bolted roadways
