Radiation Protection Research
A Framework Programme for Community Activities in the field of research and training for the European Atomic Energy Community was adopted on 26 April 1994 covering the sectors of Nuclear Fission Safety and Controlled Thermonuclear fusion (94/268/Euratom) (OJ No L 115 of 6.5.1994, p 31).Radiation Protection research is included in the specific programme on Nuclear Fission Safety under the headings "Radiological Impact on Man and the Environment" and "Mastering Events of the Past". Radiological Impact on Man and the Environment deals with a continuation of the normal research programme and Mastering Events of the Past can be considered as an extension of the work started under the Chernobyl research programme with the intention to include other significantly contaminated areas of the former Soviet Union. The first Radiation Protection Research contracts established under the specific programme on Nuclear Fission Safety in the European commissions fourth Framework Programme for community Activities in the field of research and training for the European Atomic Energy Community (1994-1998) started in January 1996.
