On November 14th 1994 the second release of the ETEX experiment was performed at Monterfil (France). This volume describes the real-time model predictions and the inter-comparison exercize following the release experiment.
the success of the project is demonstrated by the participation to the real-time modelling phase of 24 Institutions all over the World with 28 different models. No problems of communications and model results processing arose.
The volume briefly reports the preliminary phases when the communication logistics, the experimental procedures and the statistical analysis were tested. Detailed description of the synoptic situation during the experiment is provided based on the work by Dr f Kronenberg and G Geertsema cf KNMI (NL).
The volume also includes description of the main features of the participating models, the results cf chemical analyses of tracer samples, and the statistical methods used for model evaluation. The models were evaluated by pairing their results with observations separately in time or in space and in both time and space. The results of the application of the various indices to these paired populations of data are thoroughly discussed in the volume.
