Communicating Genetic Engineering in the Agro-food Sector to the Public
Recent studies and opinion polls show that consumer acceptance of genetically engineered food and agro-products in general is low. Communication on acceptable forms of genetic engineering would therefore offer advantages for both industry and consumers alike. This project has systematically analysed the experiences of different institutions on how to communicate genetic engineering in the agro-food sector to the public and the results have been used to draw up recommendations for successful strategies, for effective instruments and measures, and to point out possible problems and pitfalls. This provides a sound basis of information and a set of appropriate instruments and measures for effective communication on genetic engineering.
