Review of research and development in technologies for education and training: 1994-98
Dynamic trends in both education and technologies development have been shaping research in the area over the past five years. This report describes the work of 86 research and technological development projects in the areas of Education and Training. The advent of the World Wide Web, multimedia technologies and the advance of European and global technologies are few of the many technologies employed within this programme. Recent progress in the research and development of technologies for education and training is marked by significant achievements on behalf of a broad range of learners. Schoolchildren from families of occupational travellers for example have had their educational needs met through multimedia applications and meteorologists have used the World Wide Web to enhance their existing resources. The Educational Multimedia Task Force set up in 1995 has resulted in the funding of 46 educational multimedia projects. The future sees the development of the User-friendly Information Society for the Fifth framework Programme for Research and Technological development.
