Community Research and Development Information Service - CORDIS

This study reviews the scope and extent of inservice inspection (ISI) performed on existing light water reactors (LWR) and liquid metal fast reactors (FR), with the objective of facilitating harmonization of European codes. The report identifies the major differences in the requirements of the French RSEM Code, the German KTA rules and the ISI specification for Sizewell B. Differences in the ISI of key primary circuit components, such as the RPV, steam generators, pressurizers, reactor coolant pumps and reactor coolant pipework are discussed. The study is also concerned with the ISI of liquid metal cooled fast reactors, since there are no agreed rules or codes of practice in Europe on the ISI or repair of FR components.
