Water is indispensible for life and for the development of our societies and has become a coveted economic good, whose management will be one of the main political problems of the 21st Century. Water shortage being a chronic problem in many regions, also in Europe, requires the development of suitable technologies to protect existing water bodies and to access new resources. One of these technologies is the implementation of constructed wetlands as low-cost and easy-to-use treatment alternatives for both developed and developing countries
