Abstract

An investigation into the high temperature properties of metallic materials and the factors influencing the results of high temperature tensile tests cooling down from the melt has been conducted. In order to analyse crack formation the thermal conditions of solidification and cooling during continuous casting have been simulated, and the influence of alloying and tramp elements in high alloyed Cr-Ni steels on the sensitivity of metallic materials to crack formation and high temperature properties has been examined. Research into material induced influences of transverse corner cracking in bloom casting has also been performed.
