Abstract

Fourier transformed infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) was used to determine the reaction rate constants and products for the reaction of tetrafluoroethylene (C(2)F(4)) with OH, NO(3) and O(3) at 295 ± 3 K and 740 ± 5 Torr.

The results obtained indicate a chemical lifetime of tetrafluoroethylene in the troposphere of about one-day for typical 24 hours average OH concentrations of 9.7 x 10(5) molecules cm(-3). .
