Community Research and Development Information Service - CORDIS

Abstract

The digital media revolution of the 1990s, the information superhighway and the emerging Information Society mean that both consumers and producers alike need to be better and more accurately informed and that the future of companies within this digital world is driven almost 100% by their ability to render their products or services in digital form. The fourth framework Programme currently supports a range of innovative projects and the forthcoming Fifth Framework Programme will continue to ensure that advances in knowledge and technologies through supported research and development will serve the purposes of the Union and its policies and contribute to the efficient acceleration of this digital revolution. Research will focus more on the citizen and the response to economic and social needs, and the development of new tools will assist in the creation of a user-friendly Information Society
